How To Get The Best Price For A Cruise

You’ve wanted to take that cruise, to experience the excitement
of new ports and places with your family. You’ve daydreamed
about your place in the sun. You’ve made a million excuses to
yourself why you can’t. Perhaps you’ve thought that the cruise
of your dreams is out of reach financially. You’re in for a
surprise.

The cruise industry is one of the fasting growing of the
vacation/hospitality industries today. With the popularity of
sea cruising growing by leaps and bounds cruise lines are
growing and are able to offer more discounts to their customers.
You also have the cruise industry at your fingertips through the
use of the Internet. Every cruise line has a website where you
can check cruises, dates and deals.

Each cruise line offers what they call theme packages. These
packages are mean to attract a people of a certain lifestyle or
age group. If you are traveling with your family you may qualify
for a family discount, or, depending on your age, a senior
discount. Some cruise lines offer honeymoon discount.

It is a little known fact that many cruise lines experience last
minute cancellations. When this happens they are eager to fill
the empty slots. If you are flexible you may be able to get an
excellent last minute deal. Call the cruise line a few days
before the ship is set to sail to see if there are any last
minute deals.

If you become a frequent cruiser you may be able to get a
discount as a repeat customer. Many cruise lines give discounts
and a good percentage off if you book with them year after year,
or, if you are planning more than one cruise in a year, if you
book both cruises at the same time.

Along with checking for cruise deals online, don’t forget that
sometimes a travel agent is worth his/her weight in gold. Check
with an experienced travel agent who may be able to help you get
deals that aren’t offered to online customers. This travel agent
may also be able to help you get the best airfare price .

The cruise of your dreams is out there, and it’s within your
reach. Do your homework. The information is out there, it’s up
to you to find it

Go to a good travel agent; preferrably one that speciallizes in cruises. Prices are the same if you book online, call cruise company direct or thru a travel agent. It is only lower if you go with a group which a travel agent can put you on if they have one going at the time you one.

Have taken 15-20 cruises pluse my husband is a ship's captain in the merchant marines. Western Caribbean is ports in the Gulf of Mexico and Eastern Caribbean is ports south of Florida. Southern Caribbean is a little more expensive as you have to fly further.

One piece of advice, if you haven't cruised before….. do not take a cruise with more than 3-4 ports in one week as you wont remember whats what and you won;t have enough time to enjoy the ship.

I usually find a good deal by comparing prices for cruises here: iBtraveling.com

As for cruises, my suggestion would be to take one leaving San Juan since there aren't as many days at sea and you go to better islands.

Buy your own snorkel gear here so you won't have to spend about $30 for a ship excursion once you get to an island. Just get off the ship, head to a taxi and ask him where is the best place to snorkel, or a beach that has a bar, or … whatever your interests happen to be and he'll know the best spot. He'll pick you up when you ask too, just bring a few extra bucks for a tip.

Depending upon your age, Carnival is great for twenty somethings and 30s too, or any age actually, although most cruise lines are about the same. You hear raves about RC being great, but my friend just came back and she said she stayed awake one night listening to her husband snore on one side of her and his friend, in the next room, snoring on the other side of her. So…bring some ear plugs? LOL I dunno, I never had that problem with any cabin I've had, from the bottom of the ship to the top w/a balcony.

If you've got days at sea…and you've got the money, then a balcony is well worth the price since you'll feel that you "own" the ship with so much privacy. It's wonderful to say the least, otherwise, book a cabin with a window. (I had a hard time in a windowless cabin, but that's me.).

Two weeks before you set sail, call the cruise line and see if there are any free upgrades. Sometimes this might work, depending upon how filled it is.

Well, wish you luck, but any of the islands you'll enjoy, the rich ones and the poor ones. They're all so beautiful!

Have fun!

The cheapest cruises are usually carnival (and well worth it). Carnival has a wonderful program where you can find that absolute cheapest price anywhere on their website… no one will be able to get you a better deal. The earlier you book your cruise the better the price so make sure to book as soon as possible!
